For Participants
What is the STOMP's MMS-Sing Contest about?
This is the first singing contest of its kind, where contestants sing, film and send clips of themselves singing using mobile phones via MMS to 75557. Submission for the contest closes midnight 31 December 2006.
What do I stand to win?
The top prize of the contest is $10 000. The second prize is $5000 and third, $3000. $3000 worth of phone products are also up for grabs.
How do I take part in the MMS-Sing Competition?
Take a video on your mobile phone of yourself singing. Your song should be up to one minute. After this, send the video via MMS to 75557. Do include your name, age, occupation, song title and IC number so we can contact you.
How much do I have to pay in order to take part in the contest?
Participation is absolutely free. However, normal telco charges for sending MMSes apply.
Do I have to sing a solo? Or can I sing in a group?
You can choose to do a solo act, sing a duet, or perform in a group. There is no restriction for this.
Do I have to sing English songs? I am more comfortable singing songs in other languages.
You can choose to perform a song in any language of your choice.
Can I use props in my act?
You may do so. However, we need to see you singing.
Do I have to sing with music?
No, you do not have to. It is all up to you. You may choose to sing a song in whatever setting you are comfortable in, for example, a karaoke pub, in your bathroom, or in your school, with and without music accompanying your act.
I am not local, but came across this competition on the internet. Can I still take part in the contest?
Yes, you may. STOMP welcomes all entries.
Is there an age restriction for this contest?
No, there isn't. However, if you are below 18 years of age, parental consent must be obtained prior to submission of entries.
Can I film myself singing on video using a video camera, rather than film myself singing on my mobile phone?
The nature of this contest is restricted to that of mobile phone use. As such, video entries will be disqualified.
I am more comfortable singing in the bathroom. Can I do so and send in my entries this way?
You may do so as long as your clip is not offensive or obscene in any way.
I have problems sending in my entry. What can I do?
You may wish to visit http://www.stomp.com.sg/where we have a walk-through guide by our Tech Chick to help you. You may also visit library@orchard on the 4 November Saturday from 12 pm to 6 pm for our friendly assistants to help you.
How soon can I view my entry online?
We will upload your video as soon as we can, within three working business days.
Can I send in more than one entry?
Yes, you may do so, but do sing a different song.
I want to send in an entry of myself singing solo, and another with a group of friends. Is this possible?
Yes, you may. However, do provide us a group name for your video so we can upload it better and more quickly. For instance, if you are singing a duet, you can call yourself, for example, 'The Twins'. Just provide us your particulars in your MMS for documentation.
